It has officially began to snow here in Upstate New York. But, that isn't going to stop me from sharing these beautiful custom bridesmaids jewelry sets created for Lauren for her summer wedding.

Lauren's Custom Crystal Pearl Bridesmaids Jewelry Gift Sets

After a few design reworks the sets turned out perfectly. Initially Lauren's jewelry design idea incorporated five crystal drops along the necklace and she was thinking of having this beaded necklace design for all the girls. But, after sending her some pictures she had second thoughts about this style and felt it might be too much for what she envisioned.

So I suggested maybe just putting the two Maids of Honor in the drop style and the simple strand for the rest of the girls. She loved the idea!

Lauren's Custom Crystal Pearl Bridesmaids Jewelry Necklaces

Shown above are the five bridesmaids jewelry sets that include for 2-Maids of Honor and 3-Bridesmaids. These custom wedding jewelry necklaces were created with burgundy Swarovski Crystals, bronze Swarovski Pearls and on two designs a single Swarovski golden crystal shadow drop.

The three Bridesmaids Jewelry necklaces were designed in the same materials as the Maids of Honor except the crystal golden shadow Swarovski Crystal drop in the center was eliminated. This allowed for a classic, elegant simple beaded necklace strand. Necklace length is 17-1/4".

With the Bridal Party Earrings, Lauren decided to have all five girls with the same design. The only difference was the Maids of Honor would have a larger crystal drop. Pictured above are the Maids of Honor Earrings in the same burgundy and beige crystal pearl materials as the necklaces. The Maids of Honor earrings were 1-1/2" in length and the Bridesmaids Earrings were 1-1/4" in length from the bottom of the ear wire.

Each girl in the Bridal Party received a necklace and pair of earrings, elegantly presented in a signature complementary gift box and satin ribbon.

Lauren's Custom Bridal Crystal Allure Starburst Hair Comb

The creation of Lauren's Bridesmaids Jewelry was already in full swing and the designs were on track for completion. With just three weeks until the wedding, Lauren contacted me to ask if there would be time to design a custom bridal hair comb.

We discussed the specifics about what style she was looking for and how she planned to have her hair styled for the wedding. She really wanted to incorporate the bridesmaids jewelry into her hair piece somehow. There was no time to waste and so I got to work on making sure Lauren had the most beautiful bridal hair comb to wear on her wedding day!

I happened to come across this unfinished starburst hair comb (shown above) that was pretty similar to the style Lauren wanted. As I always do, I had a plan! I sent Lauren a picture of the comb I found and explained the idea I had. Her reply was,

Looks good to me! Work your magic!!

In the interest of time, it was also the perfect solution.

Lauren's Custom Bridal Crystal Allure Starburst Hair Comb (HC1500)

What emerged from my idea was a sparkling rhinestone starburst hair comb transformed into a handmade crystal and pearl bridal hair piece! A scattering of the bridal party's burgundy Swarovski Crystals and champagne bronze Swarovski Pearls, along with a few bridal white Swarovski Pearls were each wire wrapped to a silver hair comb. The comb measured 3-1/4" x 2-1/4".

Isn't it just beautiful!

On Lauren's wedding day, both her and Mary Kay were so kind to think of sending me pictures. It's such a busy and important time for both mother and daughter -and for them to think of sending me pictures just fills my heart. I am so appreciative of their gesture!

These moments are what truly gives meaning to my jewelry designs and inspires me to create. So, although my customers thank me for designing beautiful jewelry for them -it is really I who should (and do!) thank them for choosing Crystal Allure to be part of their special moments with my custom jewelry designs.

Mary Kay's Custom Mother of the Bride Illusion Bracelet Hairpins and Bar Pin

Designing these wedding jewelry pieces was so much fun. I'm passionate about color and the pairing of burgundy and beige was an exciting combination. Mary Kay's dress was a champagne color and since the wedding party color was burgundy, it was, well...meant to be!

In thinking about this design, I wanted to deviate a little from a full strand beaded bracelet style. Mainly because Mary Kay's dress was a sleeveless design, I just felt a bracelet with more 'umph' to it would look much better. The first go at this illusion style did not work out. But, I was not defeated. I tried a different diameter stringing wire and it worked perfectly.

As well, I wanted this design to be a mix of both gold and silver metals because Mary Kay planned on wearing her mothers fine diamond ring and earrings. This clasp matched perfectly with the Halo style diamond ring.

This handmade bead bracelet features an elegant sterling silver circle clasp with sparkling cubic zirconia (CZ), burgundy Swarovski Crystals, bronze Swarovski Pearls and a scattering of aurora borealis (AB) Swarovski Crystal accents delicately woven on a gold stringing wire for a sophisticated illusion style bracelet. Measures 7-1/4".

Mary Kay was going to have a half up-half down hairstyle and had also requested 3-4 hairpins to match. This was the first time I've ever created these -and I loved it!

These lovely crystal and pearl wedding hairpins were created using the same components as the Mother of the Bride Bracelet. Hand wired together were burgundy crystals, champagne pearls and a touch of sparkling AB crystals. Total length is 2".

Mary Kay's Custom Mother of the Bride Beaded Bar Pin Brooch (LP1500)

This handmade bar pin brooch incorporated the wedding colors hand wired onto a 1-1/2" bar pin. Mary Kay planned on pinning this crystal and pearl bar pin on the strap side of her dress (where it was just the chiffon overlay). My little secret idea was to take a clipping of the abstract flower from her extra dress material and use fabric stiffener on it to create another pin option.

Mary Kay had the option to wear just the bar pin or to use the abstract flower as a backdrop to the bar pin. She ended up using the flower backdrop with her pin and loved it!!

Mary Kay happened to be out of town when Lauren picked up all the wedding jewelry. But, when Mary Kay returned she had to say about her custom pieces:

I am so sorry it has taken me this long to tell you how exquisite I find the jewelry you designed for Lauren's wedding! My bracelet is just the right balance of classic and modern, the brooch looks great on the strap of my gown with the flower pinned behind it (great idea!), and the hairpins are beautiful tool. Autumn's Shimmering Sapphire Goldstone Beaded Necklace Set

Goldstone is often mistaken as a natural gemstone, when in fact, it is a man made glass. Produced in a low-oxygen reducing atmosphere, the finished product is glass infused with glittering metal flecks which creates its' eye-catching sparkle. Goldstone is sometimes called 'stellaria' or 'sun sitara' (sitara means 'star') for its' starry internal reflections.

The most common form of goldstone is reddish-brown which is usually referred to as 'brown goldstone'. Sun kissed goldstone beads shimmer in the sunlight with golden copper sparkles that punctuate the rich reddish-brown color.

In both blue goldstone and purple goldstone, cobalt or manganese is substituted for the copper flecks, resulting in a more silvery appearance. Such as in the beaded jewelry pieces below.

Elise's Custom Ombre Cascade Crystal Prom Jewelry

While organizing photos to transfer to a new computer, I came across a gorgeous custom jewelry set that I completely forgot to post and share. So many designs -so little time!

A returning customer, who was happy with his last custom musical necklaces jewelry order, requested a custom crystal necklace design to give to his granddaughter for her birthday. We all met to talk about design specifics and what crystal colors she (Elise) might like.

Elise decided she wanted both blue and purple crystals in her birthday crystal necklace design and since Prom was quickly approaching...she asked grandpa for matching earrings. That way she could also wear the jewelry set for her upcoming Prom!

I presented Elise with three Swarovski Crystal color options to choose from. Shown above: Option #1 included sapphire, light sapphire and violet crystals. Option #2 included those same crystals, as well as, tanzanite and tanzanite AB. The final, Option #3, kept the blue crystals but switched out the violet for provence lavender.

Courtney's Custom Pink Crystal Senior Ball Prom Jewelry

We are already into May and work has begun on Courtney's own Senior Ball custom prom jewelry in a lovely aqua blue. But, first before I want to share with you her final prom jewelry for his Senior Ball, from last year.

If you recall, Courtney was attending her boyfriends' Senior Ball and I detailed the design process that included a white dress with sequins and crystal prom jewelry in both aurora borealis and pink crystals.

Yes -he proposed! A perfect Prom proposal.

The proposal Courtney received was actually a pre-engagement proposal. But, all the same, it was my first handmade jewelry prom proposal! What a happy moment for a memorable event in their young lives.

Excitement is in the air with Prom season coming upon us. Around this time last year, I was sharing with you the custom prom jewelry design process for Courtney's junior prom jewelry.

Courtney selected Crystal Allure Creations for her prom jewelry and I was even more excited because her requested color was in the color family of my favorite color. If you recall, the design specs asked for sterling silver metal, however, to keep Courtney within her budget, we opted for silver plated metal. But, regardless, the final pieces turned out spectacular!

Personally, I feel there is an element of romance that comes with stained glass.

Stained glass, or colored glass, is both an art and a craft. It takes skill to produce a beautiful workable design and then it takes skill to assemble the piece.

Custom Pumpkin Lampwork Beaded Keychains Gift Set

The beauty of my job, as a jewelry designer, is that I get to design unique handmade creations, for special people, that will be cherished for years to come. Each of my custom pieces are infused with memories, special moments and meaning.

You may remember The Great Beaded Pumpkin Zipper Pulls Charms post, where I shared the inspiration for our Halloween Pumpkin Crystal Lampwork Beaded Keychain (K103) was another artisan's pumpkin drawing.

This dear friend has a heart of gold and is always thinking of others. She wanted the original design and requested three additional custom pumpkin beaded keychains, to give as handmade gifts to her three step-daughters, which she considers as her own precious daughters.

You know the saying:
You can pick your friends, but you can't pick your family.

Barb's Custom Pumpkin Lampwork Beaded Keychains (K103)

Over the years, the three siblings have agreed and disagreed on many things. When one sibling stands against the rest for what ever reason, hearts are bound to feel hurt. These disagreements led the siblings to sometimes forget the true meaning of family.

Barb was witness to how this discord had affected the three siblings' relationship and it broke her heart. Knowing that "pumpkin" was a nickname given to her oldest daughter, Tori, as a baby, she knew these would make perfect personalized gifts and symbols of what is important -family.

Barb gifted each of the girls with one Custom Pumpkin Lampwork Beaded Keychain and kept one for herself. The gift to the girls was to be a reminder they will always be family and they should stick together. The fourth key ring remained with Barb as a symbol to all three girls that she is always there for them -through thick and thin.

The Custom Beaded Jewelry Design Process Highlighted

In June of 2013, I had the distinct honor of working again with a truly wonderful person and returning customer, Holly.

You may remember Holly's first design, our Exclusive Holly's Custom Hope Love Cherish Crystal Awareness Bracelet (B204). This time Holly requested a beautiful handmade beaded bracelet for her girl friend, Karin.

This design would be a mother's bracelet. It was to have Karin's daughters' names: Olivia and Kate in it. Both girls' January birthstone, garnet, was to be in the design, along with possibly the color pink (which is Karin's favorite color).

With each custom beaded jewelry design, I always email a "design in progress" photo to get feedback from the customer. As soon as Holly provided her design specs and idea came to mind (see below Design #1). This particular beaded bracelet design was perfect for highlighting the beaded jewelry design process.

When creating a special custom bracelet, it can be the perfect design the first time at the bench or it may take several design attempts. The key to my custom jewelry designs is to get as many customer specs as possible into the design -because that is what makes the design truly unique and special.

You can see in Design #1 below, all of Holly's specs were included in the idea I had after speaking with her. But -it just wasn't the design yet. Back to the bench. The challenge with this design was that although I am a huge fan of Swarovski Crystals, I'm not so in love with the garnet crystal. Of all the crystal colors available, to me, it just seems very dark. So, I opted to go with a genuine semi-precious garnet gemstone for this design.

Design #2 keeps the same elements but reduces the size of the pearls. With some feedback from Holly, Design #3 keeps the semi-precious garnet and pearls, but splashes of pink crystal are added. We both felt, the pink rose Swarovski Crystal added that touch of elegance that was lacking in the previous two designs. It was decided the design was on track but...it's just missing something...that, thing -that makes it the perfect design.

Back to the bench and idea board. When I am creating, I find that taking a picture of the design and looking at it that way really helps to get a different point of view, so to speak. By Design #4, I decided to add in some texture and contrast with floating silver twisted rings.

Design #5 keeps that momentum going but changes out the pearls near the ends with the garnet gemstone beads. This turns out to be Holly's favorite design. So, back to the bench to polish it up and finish the design.

The final design (shown at the top of this post) features pink rose Swarovski Crystals, garnet semi-precious gemstones, sterling silver and 14k goldfill bead spacers, sterling letter blocks with floating silver rings. Finished with pink rose Swarovski Crystal Heart charm and our signature jewelry tag.

After five attempts at the bench, Holly's Custom Pink Garnet Birthstone Name Mothers Bracelet (B212) emerged. This special design is a truly unique gift that Karin can treasure for a lifetime!
