Happy Valentine's Day 2015! ♥ ♥

On this day, February 14th, the day of Hearts and Love, I am super excited to introduce you to the latest custom awareness bracelet design -a heart transplant survivor bracelet.

I am humbled. I am flattered. But, most of all I'm honored to have been selected to do this design.

Kathy has admired my handcrafted jewelry for nearly a year. She had contacted me in the fall of 2014 requesting a quote on a custom birthstone name bracelet, which was to be for her daughter. Unfortunately, around that same time her life was going through some unexpected changes. But, Kathy continued to admire Crystal Allure Bracelets.

One day, she admired Patricia's Custom Heart Transplant Survivor Bracelet -and she decided she MUST have it. What I later learned was there was so much more to Kathy's story.

Kathy told her sister all about Crystal Allure and this bracelet she really, really wanted. It wasn't soon after that I heard from Pam, Kathy's younger sister. It was during my conversation with Pam that I learned so much more about Kathy -and what a fighter she truly was.

The beauty of them being sisters was the fact they were born on the same day, 4 years apart! I could just hear it in Pam's voice, how much she loved her sister. Pam told be about how Kathy had received a life-saving heart transplant on February 13, 2014. I was shocked to learn this because in all my email exchanges with Kathy she never shared this precious bit of information about herself.

I also learned Pam and Kathy's fathers' birthday was February 11th. Oh my, what a wonderful and celebratory month this was for these two wonderful ladies! It was during that conversation with Pam on February 1, 2015 that I was truly humbled by Kathy's admiration of my jewelry designs. And I was going to do whatever it took to make sure I got Kathy's custom bracelet finished and to her by her 1st Heart Transplant Anniversary on February 13th!

The one request that presented a slight challenge was the handstamped charm. Pam wanted the charm to have Kathy's heart transplant date on it and wanted a heart shaped charm. Given the limited time to complete the bracelet, I quickly learned getting a heart shaped charm, that I could custom stamp, was going to prove difficult. But, not all was lost. It's at exactly these moments that my artistic juices start to flow. And behind the scenes I started working my magic.

The final design was just as Kathy had wanted: sparkling red Swarovski Crystals, sterling silver beads, .925 Bali and letter blocks that read 'SURVIVOR'. But, what really made this design Kathy's own custom design was the hand stamped charm of Kathy's transplant date.....and a heart stamp right beneath the date! It was perfect! I was so thrilled with this final design and when I told Pam about the truly personalized charm, her response was, "You ROCK, Stephanie!!!!!". I was so happy my eyes teared up.

That night, Pam and I talked for a good 45 minutes and I really learned so much about Kathy -and how much she was a FIGHTER -and yes, a SURVIVOR! I could barely contain myself as to what Kathy would think when she received her very special custom awareness bracelet.

Then Kathy called and left a message.

"It's stunning and everybody loves it! Thank you very much for doing this for me. God bless people like you."

And when I heard that message that my heart was full and I knew I had made another person's heart feel the same.

The Custom Beaded Jewelry Design Process Highlighted

In June of 2013, I had the distinct honor of working again with a truly wonderful person and returning customer, Holly.

You may remember Holly's first design, our Exclusive Holly's Custom Hope Love Cherish Crystal Awareness Bracelet (B204). This time Holly requested a beautiful handmade beaded bracelet for her girl friend, Karin.

Crystal Allure Holly's Custom Pink Garnet Birthstone Mother's Name Bracelet (B212)

This design would be a mother's bracelet. It was to have Karin's daughters' names: Olivia and Kate in it. Both girls' January birthstone, garnet, was to be in the design, along with possibly the color pink (which is Karin's favorite color).

With each custom beaded jewelry design, I always email a "design in progress" photo to get feedback from the customer. As soon as Holly provided her design specs and idea came to mind (see below Design #1). This particular beaded bracelet design was perfect for highlighting the beaded jewelry design process.

When creating a special custom bracelet, it can be the perfect design the first time at the bench or it may take several design attempts. The key to my custom jewelry designs is to get as many customer specs as possible into the design -because that is what makes the design truly unique and special.

You can see in Design #1 below, all of Holly's specs were included in the idea I had after speaking with her. But -it just wasn't the design yet. Back to the bench. The challenge with this design was that although I am a huge fan of Swarovski Crystals, I'm not so in love with the garnet crystal. Of all the crystal colors available, to me, it just seems very dark. So, I opted to go with a genuine semi-precious garnet gemstone for this design.

Design #2 keeps the same elements but reduces the size of the pearls. With some feedback from Holly, Design #3 keeps the semi-precious garnet and pearls, but splashes of pink crystal are added. We both felt, the pink rose Swarovski Crystal added that touch of elegance that was lacking in the previous two designs. It was decided the design was on track but...it's just missing something...that, thing -that makes it the perfect design.

Back to the bench and idea board. When I am creating, I find that taking a picture of the design and looking at it that way really helps to get a different point of view, so to speak. By Design #4, I decided to add in some texture and contrast with floating silver twisted rings.

Design #5 keeps that momentum going but changes out the pearls near the ends with the garnet gemstone beads. This turns out to be Holly's favorite design. So, back to the bench to polish it up and finish the design.

The final design (shown at the top of this post) features pink rose Swarovski Crystals, garnet semi-precious gemstones, sterling silver and 14k goldfill bead spacers, sterling letter blocks with floating silver rings. Finished with pink rose Swarovski Crystal Heart charm and our signature jewelry tag.

After five attempts at the bench, Holly's Custom Pink Garnet Birthstone Name Mothers Bracelet (B212) emerged. This special design is a truly unique gift that Karin can treasure for a lifetime!

Tiffany's Sterling Pearl Mother and Daughter Bracelets (B189)

Mother's Day is just a few short weeks away and if you're anything like me, you always have a hard time finding that just perfect gift to give Mom. I've always had a "thing" for matching or complimentary Mother and Daughter Bracelets. I believe they symbolize just how special the mother-daughter bond really is.

Custom Crystal Awareness Bracelet For The Mommy Who Gives Love With A Bear Hug!

Robyn's son, Cale, has cochlear implants and she was looking for a custom cochlear implant awareness bracelet. Although there was not a specific color associated with cochlear implants, silver and gold are the awareness colors for hearing loss/impairment.

Robyn loved our beautiful and very popular Swarovski Crystal Pearl Mommy Bracelet. Using that as the starting point, her inspired custom handmade beaded bracelet design was personalized with the details that are closest to her heart.

Robyn chose to go with the Swarovski Crystal color indicolite because the color is represented in the foundation, Operation "Hug-A-Bear", she and her family formed in 2011. Its' mission is to bring smiles to children who are in the hospital, or going through treatments. Having seen her own son go thru the surgeries for his cochlear implants geared her to help others who are in pain, or saddened with treatments. The foundation raised enough money to purchase 123 Ronald McDonald bears through her side job, Scentsy. These bears will be given out to two of the large hospitals her son has had treatments at.

Laura's Custom Crystal Epilepsy Awareness Bracelet (B073-EP)

With each custom awareness bracelet design, I get the opportunity to meet some really special, fantastic people. I also get to learn about the diseases that affect them. Sometimes I learn a lot about the person, other times, I don't. But one thing is for sure. With each custom request -it touches my life -permanently.

Laura's Custom Epilepsy Awareness Bracelet (B073-EP)

Epilepsy is a medical condition that produces seizures affecting a variety of mental and physical functions. It is also called a seizure disorder. Seizures happen when clusters of nerve cells in the brain signal abnormally, which may briefly alter a person's consciousness, movements or actions.*

Recently, I had the distinct pleasure of "meeting" one of the nearly 3 million Americans (50 million people worldwide) affected by epilepsy. Her name is Laura.

Laura wanted to have a custom crystal epilepsy awareness bracelet designed that would raise awareness of epilepsy but also be a touch more personalized with her name. Laura's design incorporates lavender Swarovski Crystals, the awareness color for epilepsy, 14 kart gold-fill beads, Bali and sterling letter blocks for her name. She loved my exclusive sterling Hope Ribbon hand-stamped charm and it was the perfect finishing touch to her treasured keepsake awareness bracelet.

Holly's Custom Hope Love Cherish Mothers Bracelet (B204)

Back in late 2011, I had the unique distinction of custom designing a very special awareness bracelet. Holly had contacted me because one of the most important people in her life was battling stage 4 lung cancer. This person, Susie, was not her biological mom but was like her mom, for 24 years.

In Holly's words, "She (Susie) has three sons but the bond a mother and daughter have is unbreakable. I have been searching and searching for a piece of jewelry that blew me off my feet and when I saw your awareness bracelets, I knew I had found the one."

Susie had just finished chemotherapy and Holly wanted to honor her with a beautiful custom beaded bracelet. She had fallen in love with my Original and Exclusive Live Life Give Life Awareness Bracelet (B113) and that became our starting point to design the most amazing meaningful custom beaded bracelet possible. Holly wanted to incorporate somehow the special meaning of family, her love for Susie and raise awareness of lung cancer.

Holly's Custom Hope Love Cherish Mothers Bracelet (B204)

While sitting in my living room one night, I noticed a decorative sign I had on the shelf that read 'cherish family' and it was then that I knew I had to somehow incorporate the word 'cherish'. The challenge was to take an existing design using four sets of four-letter words and convert that to two sets of four-letter words and one seven-letter word. After hours & days of manipulation, incorporating the sapphire Swarovski Crystal (which is Susie's birthstone) with Swarovski Pearls, the design came together...just like it was meant to be.

Let me share another "everything happens for a reason" story. Holly was having this bracelet designed as a surprise for Susie. One night, she happened to talk to Susie and asked Susie what she thought she should get as a gift for her mom. Susie suggested a bracelet with beads and words because she thought they were so beautiful and meaningful. Little did Susie know that is exactly what Holly was having designed for her. It was then she knew without doubt, this was the. perfect. gift!

When Holly and I spoke on the phone she told me she chose Crystal Allure Jewelry because, as she said, our jewelry is 'amazingly beautiful and she was deeply touched by the level of personalization we put into our custom designs.' It was my honor to have been chosen to create this custom design for two very special people and to have been touched by their beauty.

A returning customer, Melissa, requested a Custom Military Deployment Bracelet (B202), in honor of her husband who was going to be deployed towards the end of the year.

All Melissa requested was that it have yellow in it, she gave me carte blanche to work my artisan magic and CrystalAllure-ize a beautiful and memorable design for this very special beaded bracelet. The final design was the third go at it. Although I was inspired by the first two ideas, it was the last that I actually had a dream about and that is the one I went with. This beautiful handmade awareness beaded bracelet was given even more meaning with a personalized, hand stamped initial charm.

Melissa's Custom Military Deployment Bracelet (B202)

The design was created to complement her Custom Crystal HPV Awareness Bracelet (B194-HPV) previously purchased from Crystal Allure. The feature and focal of this design is the beaded strand of yellow Swarovski Crystals, yellow agate and glass beads centered between two sterling silver American flag block beads. To keep the focus on the message of the bracelet, the remainder of the design was kept subdued and finished with three charms, an awareness ribbon charm, a custom hand stamped initial charm and our signature jewelry tag.

Working with Charlene, I re-created the two strands of sparkling sterling silver, mixed with 14 karat gold fill beads and .925 Bali accented by red Swarovski Crystals, bearing the message "Life Life Give Life" in sterling silver alphabet beads. To finish her custom design we added a red Swarovski Crystal heart charm and our signature jewelry tag.

The idea to use red crystals, gold beads and a red heart charm were all Charlene's and it was my pleasure to be able to create her vision from our original design. I had some wonderful email exchanges with Charlene and I consider it a blessing to have "met" her and worked with her.

All I can say is "WOW"!! Its absolutely stunning!! We were getting ready to go out the door to leave for Vanderbilt (5 hr trip) and the mail came. My husband went out to pick it up and the package was in it. I tore into it with the enthusiasm of a child at Christmas. I can't quit looking at it. Back in February (wow! am I behind in sharing this!!), Elizabeth contacted me to design a custom mothers bracelet incorporating the hygroma awareness color.

Elizabeth wanted to give this custom awareness-mothers bracelet as a gift to her friend who had lost her baby boy to hygroma. She requested the design also incorporate the baby's name.

Working with the design elements of our original Swarovski Crystal Pearl Mommy Bracelet, I incorporated burgundy Swarovski Crystals and personalized the name to GRANT in memory of her friends' son. A final custom touch included a sterling silver cross charm.

What really made Elizabeth's Custom Mothers Hygroma Awareness Bracelet (B188-HYG) a touching and beautiful gift were the sterling silver eternity knot rings that encircle the pearls. Grant's mother will love him for eternity and he will always be with her and in her heart.

This special and unique beaded bracelet design not only raises hygroma awareness, it also celebrates motherhood and the loss of a child. It was my honor to have designed this very special treasured keepsake bracelet for Elizabeth and her friend. Cristy contacted me about designing a custom aunt bracelet for her to give as a gift to her sister, Wanda. She wanted to celebrate her sister for having such a big heart and for making a difference in the lives of both her niece and nephew.

Being an aunt myself, I felt a personal connection to this design.
