In Upstate New York, this is the last weekend of the annual Rochester Lilac Festival.

This event is scheduled during May when the numerous flowering lilac bushes are typically (or hopefully!) in full bloom. It truly is a sight to see and smell!

Sterling Silver Flower Beads
Electroformed sterling silver beads are created through an intricate process that begins with a bead made of wax. The wax bead is then immersed in a solution that electrically forms pure silver over it. The next step burns out the wax, leaving a hollow, sterling silver formation. The sterling silver is then highly polished. The result is an incredibly lightweight sterling silver bead.

Pantone Inspired Fall Beaded Pearl Gemstone Necklaces

While Autumn officially began September 22nd, and we are just 32 days away from the first day of winter, I still had some Fall Beaded Jewelry Designs to share! I know, I know. You're probably thinking (with a very confused look on your face), 'didn't she just write a winter inspired blog post?' Yes. Yes, I did. But, hey, that's how the weather rolls here in Upstate New York. Besides, you'll find quite a few people here who will say, 'Let's not rush winter already!" And with Thanksgiving just around the corner... I would have to agree.

So, it's time to get back on track. The point here is...I had all the new fall beaded jewelry ready to roll and here's how it went down:
1. Autumn weather arrived. Check.
2. The leaves started turning their gorgeous shades of russet, burgundy, deep green, rich yellow (you get the picture..). Check.
3. Autumn jewelry pictured and ready to post. Check.
4. Life happens....need I say more.
5. Snow falls. What?!?! (hence my winter inspired post)

But, I'm back on track and really, really want to share these gorgeous new gemstone beaded necklaces!! One (mind you, this is just one) of the things I love most about Autumn is the color. I love the rich colors, cozy colors and the combination of both!

My first inspiration on the following designs were the gemstone beads I had personally hand picked. The second inspiration was Pantone's 2013 Fall Color Report. Marry these two -and viola' -instant gorgeousness you simply can't take your eyes off of!

This first gemstone necklace came together after I discovered the blue crazy lace agate teardrop gemstone pendant. Isn't that mix of earth brown, meditative blue and white just stunning?! Paired with larimar gemstone beads and brown smoke topaz Swarovski Crystals and this necklace combines the beautiful color of Pantone's Mykonos Blue and Carafe!

Not a blue color kind of gal? No worries. I would be shocked if you were able to resist the allure of nature's lush green. Green is such a versatile color. Wear it in spring, summer, fall and even winter if it's the right shade. This next gemstone necklace features a rhyolite gemstone pendant reminiscent of Pantone's Deep Lichen Green color. The pendant showcases a mix of green, cream and brown colors. It is paired with green freshwater pearls and jet black Swarovski Crystal accents.

Pantone's Koi color is not for the faint of heart. Autumnal orange can be a challenging color to try to wear for most women. But, you don't have to go orange from head to toe. Even if you tend to wear a lot of black in your wardrobe, this inspired necklace would be the perfect compliment. It's all about using this color as an accent!

And, last but not least, is a design that speaks to your sweet tooth (without all the calories!!) Pantone's Carafe is a rich, glamorous chocolate brown. Which made it the perfect inspiration for what I call my "graham cookie" necklace! I came across this rippled chocolate-brown ceramic pendant and grabbed it up. Almost instantly, I envisioned this "delicious" pendant paired with creamy riverstone gemstones and "chocolately" smoke topaz Swarovski Crystals. Mmmm! Mm!

NEW Twilight Inspired Beaded Necklace

I have to admit, I never really got Twilight. I can remember seeing tidbits of it all over the web and I would think, 'what is this Twilight', or 'what is all the hype about this Twilight'. But, for whatever reason it just didn't grab me (enough, I guess) and I had no interest in learning anything about it. Until.

One day, I realized that as my second oldest neice got, well, older, I was losing pace with keeping connected with her. And I missed that..immensly.

So, on purely that reason alone, I finally broke down and asked her what Twilight was all about. She went into a hyper-excited explanation and interpretation about the storyline....from day.one. (ugh). But soon, I was all caught up on the vampire series and as I learned, just in time for Breaking Dawn Part 1.

She was more than happy (can we say, excited!!!) to bring the tapes of the first two series' over for a sleep over. Even as I watched the first two series', I just didn't get it. But, I forged on. For the sake of staying connected with her.

Even to this day, with Breaking Dawn Part 2, only 16 days away from release, I'm still not a huge Twilight die-hard. But, that didn't stop me from being inspired by it! I've seen many interpretations of Twilight into handmade jewelry, but most are literal or of the style or quality that I just don't subscribe to.

In designing the Crystal Allure Beaded Jewelry's one-of-a-kind Twilight Inspired Necklace, I wanted to take a more classic, refined approach. I wanted my inspired piece to be something that could be worn anytime, any day, for any reason. Most of all, I wanted it to have timelessness. I didn't want it to become obsolete after all the fan fare died down about Twilight.

What emerged from the studio is a timeless handmade beaded necklace that projects an air of intrique, mystery, passion and love. Designed with rich blood red velvet faceted lentil beads, dark hematite Swarovski Crystals, sterling silver Bali beads and finished with our sterling silver signature jewelry tag.

What Lingers...Beneath The Surface

Each time I had vacationed on Sanibel Island, it was usually for a week at a time. But, I saw very little of the island because I spent every waking hour at the beach. I really didn't care much to see what else Sanibel offered. Except I did go to Captiva Island for dinner. Great restaurant down there. Oh, and I did do a little shopping. A girl has gotta shop! Here was my daily schedule:

-Wake up (with the sandpipers)
  -Go to beach
-Eat lunch
  -Go back to beach
-Eat dinner
  -Go back to beach, stay until (past) sunset
-Sleep, then repeat

Funny story. The first year we vacationed on Sanibel Island, it was with two other people. We unloaded our bags and went straight to the beach. Walking about knee-deep or so in the surf, four across, with me closest to the 'deep' end of the ocean. Something small and fluttery swam between mine and my husbands' feet, startling us (we later discovered it was a wee-bitty little stingray). So, what does he do? He saves himself. Yes. You read that correctly. He pushes me toward the ocean while he jumps toward the beach...nice. And yet, I still married him. :-)

One on evening, we went to go watch the sunset. There was a family at the beach and two of their kids were in the water. Daylight had been fading away and as I watched them, I commented out loud, I hoped they (the parents) are watching those kids (because of course, I was thinking about 'what you can't see beneath, and I saw the father with a cocktail in his hands). No sooner had I thought this but this fin pops out of the water, I start toward the parents but luckily dad was paying attention and ran into the water shouting for them to get out. The kids got out safely.

The ocean is what I like to term a "beautiful nightmare". Its' sparkling blue waters and sandy floors will lure you in, but, believe for one moment the ocean is your friend and you could find yourself struggling in its' powerful waves and currents.

Or, you just might end up as shark bait..hoo, ha-ha (sorry, had to throw that in there!), if you're not careful. Personally, I am not a fan of not being able to see what's below me in the water. Maybe I watched too many Jaws movies.

Sanibel Island. The beach. The unknowns of daily life. These were the inspirations behind two newest handmade beaded necklace designs, affectionately termed Sink or Swim.
