Cherries Garcia Crystal Lampwork Beaded Earrings (EL247)

For a delicious (and calorie free!) twist on the favorite Ben and Jerry's Cherry Garcia ice cream are these rich artisan lampwork glass beads flanked by Swarovski Crystals in olivine green and burgundy. The design includes .925 sterling Bali spacers and Bali star bead caps.

These gorgeous (and yummy!) artisan boro glass lampwork beads were created by the talented Russ Powers. Each bead has a swirl of both rich cherry burgundy and chocolate colors. These handmade beaded earrings are finished with sterling silver french hook ear wires and measure 1-1/4" from the bottom of the ear wire.

In Upstate New York, this is the last weekend of the annual Rochester Lilac Festival.

This event is scheduled during May when the numerous flowering lilac bushes are typically (or hopefully!) in full bloom. It truly is a sight to see and smell!

With fragrant blooms and a variety of colors from pink to purple, these lovely lilacs are what inspired this lilac purple handmade jewelry set.

When I came across these gorgeous amethyst gemstone nuggets, I just couldn't put them down. They felt so good in my hands and I knew they would make a beautiful necklace with the unique gold clasp.

Just like the beauty of springtime lilacs in May, amethyst gemstones are soothing to the eye and have long been admired for their rich, beautiful purple color. Amethysts are elegant, graceful and when paired with gold are truly a sight to behold.

Treasure Chest Goldstone Gem Bead Ring (R104)

An 8x15mm goldstone gem bead, resembling a treasure chest of shimmering gold, is hand wire-wrapped in 14 karat gold-fill wire in this handmade bead ring. Currently available in 6-1/2" only.

Goldstone is often mistaken as a natural gemstone, when in fact, it is a man-made glass. Produced in a low-oxygen reducing atmosphere, the finished product is glass infused with glittering metal flecks which creates its' eye-catching sparkle. Goldstone is sometimes called 'stellaria' or 'sun sitara' (sitara means 'star') for its' starry internal reflections.

The most common form of goldstone is reddish-brown which is usually referred to as 'brown goldstone'. Sun kissed goldstone beads shimmer in the sunlight with golden copper sparkles that punctuate the rich reddish-brown color.

It's the middle of April and the pre-prom planning has already begun with excitement about who you will go to prom with, dress shopping, flowers and sparkling accessories, of course!

For various reasons, I never went to prom (junior or senior). There are moments where I've wished I had gone and had that experience. I mean, come on, prom is a young adults' first big social event of their life -a rite of passage, if you will.

Over the years, prom, has certainly changed -a lot (especially if you ask your parents about their prom days!). These days, prom is the event of the year. It's filled with excitement, hope, (for some) sweet love, glitz, glamour, fond memories and good friends.

We all remember as children both giving and eating Sweethearts Conversation Heart candies at school. You remember them...the tasty pastel sugar hearts pre-printed with quirky phrases expressing love and devotion. Even today as adults we recognize and associate them as the American icon of Valentine's Day and they are still the best-selling Valentine candy around.

NECCO (New England Confectionery Company) has been manufacturing these lovely candies since 1847 and manufactures over 8 billion hearts each year. The company has since discarded all its previous phrases and updated them with new expression of love, the candies now come in brighter and bolder new colors and there are even new flavors. But the symbolism of this iconic candy is still the same.

I used to love getting Conversation Heart candies as a kid. But as an adult, it might seem a little childish or awkward to give and/or receive a box of these candies as a gift on Valentine's Day.
