Burgundy Crystal Cystic Hygroma Awareness Bracelet and Ribbon Earrings

It was nearly 4 years ago when I was first introduced to the cause of Hygroma Awareness by Elizabeth. She had requested a Custom Mothers Bracelet with Hygroma Awareness for a dear friend who had lost her child to this disease.

Just a little background on what exactly is cystic hygroma:
Cystic hygromas are birth defects that result in fluid-filled sacs caused by blockages in the lymphatic system (abnormal tissue). They are most often found on babies because these abnormal growths form while the baby is still in the womb. However, a hygroma can still appear after birth and are typically found on a baby’s neck or head.

In general, hygromas get larger, or grow, with your child over time. There is a good prognosis if surgery can totally remove the abnormal tissue. However, in cases where the hygroma doesn't resolve on its own (by 20 weeks into the pregnancy) or complete removal, through surgery, is not possible, the cystic hygroma commonly returns and can cause serious complications.

Loss of Brother Awareness Earrings -Loss of Sister

Today, June 13th, is what would have been my brother, Eddie's 48th birthday, had he received the double lung transplant that he needed.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY EDDIE!!

As I always do, I visited him today and brought him yellow pom daisies. To this day, I'm not quite sure why, but I've always brought him yellow flowers. They can't be any other color. From his end to the end of my days, I will always miss him. Time may have healed my broken heart but the loss was just as raw as it was sixteen years ago.

Over the years, I have created many jewelry designs that were inspired by him. But the latest inspired awareness design is truly special because they represent the sorrow, loss, love and memory of our siblings past. Black is the nationally recognized color for LOSS, with appropriately, blue representing a male sibling and pink a female sibling.

The color blue (when paired with black) actually represents awareness for the loss of brother, loss of father, loss of son and/or loss of male.

To best represent my loss, I've dubbed them the sibling awareness earrings, but, the colors can, and do, represent the loss of any familial relation.

During the design process, I felt the twisted rings represented how entwined our lives are with those we have lost -a circle that has no beginning -no end.

The American Cancer Society's website states: "About 1 out of 8 invasive breast cancers are found in women younger than 45, while about 2 of 3 invasive breast cancers are found in women age 55 or older."

These are sobering statistics considering if you ask any woman, they have either been diagnosed with breast cancer, know someone with breast cancer and/or they know someone who has survived breast cancer.

Although October is designated as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Crystal Allure Beaded Jewelry is dedicated to raising awareness about breast cancer throughout the year. We do this through our original designs of sparkling pink crystal awareness jewelry.

About Autism
Autism is a spectrum disorder of neural development characterized by impaired social interaction, communication and by restricted and repetitive behavior.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released a phone survey analysis that showed a 72 percent increase, in 2012 from 2007, in the likelihood of a school-aged American child to be diagnosed with autism, Aspberger syndrome or a related developmental disorder.

Although the current report reflects 1 in 50 children receiving a diagnosis, it was emphasized most of the increase was because of previously undiagnosed cases.

With the increase prevalence towards an Autism spectrum diagnosis, I wanted to contribute to raising awareness of Autism through our beautiful crystal Awareness Jewelry Collection.
